Is Similarweb Blocked in India? 5 Free Ways to Access it

In the past years, many Indians have been unable to access Similarweb, raising questions about whether Similarweb is blocked in India. I, too, could not access Similarweb, even after switching browsers!

So, this morning, I started my investigation into the possible causes behind Similarweb’s inaccessibility. And, the results were surprising. Keep reading to find out!

Why is Similarweb not accessible in India?

The very first thing I did was verify whether Similarweb was blocked in India. Upon going through several official and unofficial sources, I couldn’t find any reliable information indicating a ban on Similarweb in the Indian territory.

So, why then is Similarweb inaccessible? Further research pointed to these reasons:

  • Incorrect DNS server
  • Corrupted browsing data
  • Blocks placed inadvertently by the server administrator or ISP

If any of these is the reason you can’t open Similarweb, the fixes listed next will do the trick!

How can I access Similarweb in India?

The solutions listed here are all personal opinions of the author, based on years of experience in the field and extensive research on the subject. We don’t promote software and try to recommend free tools, where ever possible.

1. Change the DNS server

  1. Press Windows + S to open the Search menu, type View network connections, and click on the relevant result.
  2. Right-click on the active network adapter, be it Ethernet or Wi-Fi, and select Properties.
  3. Choose Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on Properties.
  4. Select Use the following DNS server addresses option, and enter the following in the fields underneath:
    • Preferred DNS server: 8 . 8 . 8 . 8
    • Alternate DNS server: 8 . 8 . 4 . 4
  5. Finally, tick the checkbox for Validate settings upon exit, and click OK to save the changes.

Here, I have used Google’s Public DNS since it’s the most reliable option out there. But you could go with another one. The core idea is to use a public DNS instead of the one auto-configured by your PC!

2. Clear the browsing data

  1. Open your browser, and press Ctrl + Shift + Delete.
  2. Choose All time from the Time range dropdown menu, tick the checkboxes for Browsing history, Cookies and other site data, and Cached images and files, and then click the Clear data button.delete browsing data to fix similarweb blocked india
  3. Finally, relaunch the browser and try accessing Similarweb.

3. Access pro.similarweb.com instead

When the original domain “similarweb.com” is not working, open “pro.similarweb.com” instead!

While changing the DNS server worked for me, research suggests that accessing “pro.similarweb.com” helped most of the other users.

4. Use a different browser or switch to Incognito mode

Often, the inability to access Similarweb in India was limited to specific browsers, say Chrome or Firefox, due to localized blocks in place. In this case, switching to another browser will help bypass the block.

I personally recommend Brave. It has a built-in ad-blocker, in addition to impressive performance and a seamless UI!

But, go ahead with whichever one works for you. There are no compulsions here. The sole aim is to access Similarweb.

5. Use a free VPN

After going through countless forum threads, I found that a significant number of users rely on VPN (Virtual Private Network) to access Similarweb in India.

I suggest you install a free one like Proton VPN, and if it works, continue using the software. There’s no need for a paid subscription to bypass blocks on Similarweb in India. A free subscription works just fine!

6. Contact Similarweb support

If nothing here proved useful, you have no option but to contact Similarweb’s support team. Accessible both via chat and voice call, the support team should be able to better identify the underlying cause and fix accessibility issues with Similarweb in India.

Since we have already established that Similarweb is not blocked or banned in India, at least in 2025, it’s safe to assume that problems accessing it usually arise due to localized problems with your PC. And as soon as you can fix that, deep insights into websites are just a step away!
